Robert Hammond: Highs and Lows of Urban Development
Tuesday, November 23, 2010 at 6:00 PM (CST)
San Antonio, TX
Robert Hammond, a native of San Antonio, co-founded Friends of the High Line with Joshua David in 1999. They took the High Line, a 1.5 mile abandoned rail structure on Manhattan’s West Side, from the brink of demolition to the opening of section 1 of the park (Gansevoort St. - 20th St.) in June 2009.
Friends of the High Line raised over $150 million in public and private capital funding and currently manages the park under a license agreement with the Parks Department of the City of New York. Robert is currently the President and Executive Director of the organization.
